Karla is a graphic designer, illustrator, packaging designer, and producer with design experience dating back to the mid 90’s. She’s a partner, and designer at Mcween, a small interactive studio in northern Virigina leading a range of projects - particularly concept translation into the Latin American culture, as well as their brand identity design.
Karla began her career in Caracas, Venezuela designing brand identity, and packaging for Caracas’s largest agency LOWE CONCEPT. After several years as a senior designer, Karla decided to enroll in Philadephia’s Drexel University to enhance her English, then attended The Art Institute of Philadelphia, graduating with a Multimedia degree. Shortly after graduation Karla launched an urban jewelry line, and spent several years consulting for a few Silicon Valley start-ups, design firms, as well as HP creating iconic brand identity, greeting cards, and a range of print materials.
Karla’s inspiration for MOD-INK came from her love, and admiration for design, and aesthetics of the mid-century modern era⁏s. MOD-INK has plans, and ideas for use of it’s designs on textiles, plastics, and a truly broad range of printed materials.
